This is one of those questions which we probably all think about, but often don’t quite get around to doing the research. So here’s a quick article to try and condence the key pointers!
Let’s face it, long-haul flights can be tiring and uncomfortable, regardless of whether you’re in business class or economy, but wearing the right clothes can make all the difference. In this article, we will explore the best clothes to wear on a long-haul flight to ensure maximum comfort (and style!).
When it comes to long-haul flights, comfort is key. The last thing you want is to be stuck in uncomfortable clothing for hours on end. Opt for comfortable trousers or leggings that allow for a range of movement and are not too tight. Avoid jeans or pants with buttons, zippers or belts, as these can dig into your skin and cause discomfort. Not to mention the more metal you have in you clothing, particularly belts, often leads to slower passage through security.
Choose a breathable and lightweight top that will keep you cool and comfortable during your flight. Cotton or linen tops are great options, as they are breathable and won’t cause you to overheat. Avoid tight-fitting tops, as they can restrict your movement and cause discomfort. A loose-fitting blouse or t-shirt is a great choice!
The temperature on a long-haul flight can vary greatly, so it’s important to wear layers that you can easily take on and off. A cardigan, hoodie, or light jacket is a great option. Layers also allow you to adjust your clothing to your comfort level. This is essential advice in case you get chilly!
When it comes to long-haul flights, again, comfort should be your top priority. Wear comfortable shoes that are easy to slip on and off, as you will need to remove them during security checks and during the flight. Sneakers, loafers, or slip-on shoes are great options. Avoid heels if possible; whilst they may look great, they are probably the least comfortable option!
Sitting in one position for an extended period can lead to poor circulation, swollen feet, and even in extreme cases, deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). To prevent these issues, wear compression socks during your flight. Compression socks improve blood flow and reduce swelling, keeping your feet and legs comfortable during your long flight.
A scarf or wrap is a versatile accessory that can serve as a blanket, pillow or even an eye mask during your flight. Choose a lightweight scarf or wrap that you can easily fold and store in your bag.
When traveling, it’s best to keep your jewelry to a minimum. Avoid wearing anything bulky or that can get caught on your clothing. Simple earrings or a necklace are great options. If you do decide to wear jewellery and you accidentally drop something on the floor in a hard place to access, it is always recommended to ask a member of the cabin crew to help recover it. This also applys to mobile phones and is particularly important in business class cabins as attempting to move the seat can result in your belongings being accidentally crushed!
When it comes to long-haul flights, comfort should be your top priority. Opt for comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a range of movement. Layers, comfortable shoes, compression socks, and a scarf or wrap are also great options. By following these tips, you can ensure a comfortable and stylish long-haul flight.
