Say the word festival to someone and it instantly brings up images of sleeping in tents, communal loos, and cheap booze. But as festivals have become more mainstream, a new trend has emerged for luxury festivals where participants can enjoy comfortable accommodation, world-class dining, and many other great amenities, while also enjoying acts from around the world and cultural delights.
You can arrive in style by finding cheap business class flights, and there’s no need to pack a tent or sleeping bag, with many alternatives to the usual muddy campsites. Here are some festivals to look out for in 2018.
Cruise ship festivals
When you think of luxury travel, cruises often spring to mind, and many companies are now shedding the old image of cruises and creating exclusive on-board festivals. Some ones to look out for in 2018 include:
As with any cruise, you can pick your level of accommodation, so can opt for a basic cabin up to a luxury suite. You’ll then need to book flights, with Virgin Atlantic a popular choice for premium class travel, as they fly direct to Miami, a major cruise terminal.
Anyone who has ever spent any time on Instagram will know that Coachella is the festival to be seen at. That’s why business class flights to California book up so quickly in April, with many celebrities and influencers rushing to this week-long festival.
Although you’ll get a bigger luggage allowance, you won’t need to worry about a tent, as you can book an air-conditioned marquee, or even a local luxury hotel with free transfers, so you can pack plenty of stylish outfits.
If you ever need an excuse to visit the beautiful beaches of Bali, then the Paradise Festival might be it. Set in Canggu, with white sandy beaches, you can party along the seafront and enjoy gourmet dining just steps away with several luxury resorts where you can stay and make the most of the unspoilt paradise. With a number of big-name music acts playing, plus events such as yoga classes, it’s bound to be a memorable weekend.
Set in Marrakech, the Oasis festival takes place at The Source Private Resort Music & Spa, so not a muddy tent in site. However, there is world class music, fabulous pool parties, hookah lounges, and the chance to mingle with celebs at this exclusive bash, before retiring to your deluxe room to refresh.
British Airways fly direct to Marrakech, so you can start off your trip in style, with features such as lie-flat beds in club class, allowing you to get some rest before the party.
