The 3.8 million square miles and 50 states of America offer you a vast range of options for holidays; from skiing and snowboarding in Vermont, to lounging on the glorious Florida beaches, mountain hikes in Colorado, exhausting the kids in theme parks or exploring huge national parks such as Yosemite and Yellowstone.

For both vacations and business trips, four of the most popular destinations in the USA are New York, Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

What makes these cities so appealing, and why should you book your business class flights as soon as possible?

New York State of Mind

Though Washington DC has great appeal – including the White House, Capital Building and Lincoln Memorial, as well as diverse museums and superb dining out options – for many USA visitors the “Big Apple” is the place to go.

Unlike the USA capitol with its low-level buildings and vast green swathes, New York is packed full of hustle and bustle, and reaches to the sky!

There really is something for everyone in “the city that never sleeps”, including arguably the best retail experiences in the world, and opportunities to see the best shows on Broadway.

New York’s plethora of options also includes the iconic Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center (with its Top of the Rock Observation Deck) and the unmissable Metropolitan Museum of Arts.

You can still wander the leafy lanes of Central Park to find peace though, or relax in one of the many diners, bakeries and local eateries that have survived here for many decades, especially around the quirky East Village and Brooklyn.

Even if you’re in New York on a corporate travel trip, try to find time for an urban adventure, even if it’s just a few hours soaking up the colour and noise of Times Square or eating in its globally respected restaurants.

Miami “Nice”

Just like NYC, much of Miami’s appeal comes from the fact it’s a melting pot of diverse cultures and influences.

The food in this Florida hub is worth the visit alone, including some of the most delicious seafood on the planet.

Add in a big dose of sunshine, some incredible coast, and a party atmosphere, and you have a destination that has 24-hour appeal.

Nearby swampland offers extra interest – with an Everglades adventure high on most “to do” lists for holidays. Miami’s wealth means its arts and museum offerings are hugely impressive, and in all the modern development you can still find pockets of older homes, with distinctive Hispanic and Caribbean vibes. The best cultural experiences in Miami are generally felt to be around Little Havana and the larger than life Miami Beach.

If you’re planning business travel to Miami, try to slot in a dip in that glorious ocean or a quick visit to the amazing Zoo Miami with its 2,000 inhabitants.

What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas

The bright lights of Las Vegas are a huge draw for holidaymakers and can be especially beguiling if you have the disposable income to take advantage of some of the stellar shows staged in this glittering city. In fact, if you’re the type of person who travels on business class flights and books the best suites in hotels, nowhere else on earth can you live more splendidly as a “high roller”.

However, there are many more levels of entertainment and relaxation to enjoy in “America’s Playground” – also known as Sin City due to its gambling notoriety!

Think of Vegas as a living theme park, with incredible photo opportunities on every corner, spas, boutiques and gourmet restaurants lining its streets. Highlights include the Strip of course, but also the Bellagio Casino and Fountains and Venetian Casino and Grand Canal.

A stay in Las Vegas also puts you close to the rather older (six million years) Grand Canyon; an awe-inspiring red-orange chasm in northern Arizona. It measures one mile in depth, 277 river miles in length and around 18 miles in width at some points.

This means no photograph can do it justice and it needs to be “seen to be believed”. The South Rim and Bright Angel Trail get crowded but there are quieter hikes and views from the North Rim, or charter a helicopter for a personal journey across this natural wonder.

LA Glitz and Glamour

Even the most hardened traveller would find it difficult to resist the charms of Los Angeles, particularly as this Californian city has so many “angles”.

Business trips are likely to take you to the heart of the urban sprawl, but it’s recommended that you squeeze in an excursion to LA’s beaches. Santa Monica and Venice are particularly vibrant and historically fascinating.

Or, soak in the massively hip, funky Silver Lake district on the Eastside.

Holidays to LA would not be complete without exploring its landmark features, including Hollywood, Rodeo Drive and those abundant theme parks.

However, you can miss those out and still never get bored in LA. You could visit The Getty Centre (brimming with masterpieces), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (20 acres) or the expertly curated Museum of Jurassic Technology (nothing to do with the film). Or take a walking tour around Los Angeles’ art deco architecture, then gaze in wonder at the scrap-metal based Watts Towers. For some, the best holiday memory will be the incredible Hall of the Sky and Hall of the Eye at the Griffith Observatory.
