After a year on the sidelines like most of the travel industry, the most recognized airport and airline awards in the world, Skytrax, has returned in 2021 to shine a light on the airlines that are going above and beyond for their passengers.
With over 13.42 million eligible survey entries from over 100 nationalities, the results are some of the most comprehensive and coveted in the industry, ranging from the top with ‘World’s Best Airline’, to the detailed with winners in categories such as ‘World’s Best Business Class’ or ‘World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew’, while also providing encouragement in the ‘World’s Most Improved Airlines’ category.
So without further ado, here are the Skytrax World Airline Awards winners for 2021. Drum roll please…
Taking into account all travel classes, all onboard categories, all airport categories, and all staff categories, it takes something special to get to the lofty heights of the top 10, but to reach the top 3 is a Herculean achievement… especially since all three have been there since 2017!
On the top step of the podium, Qatar Airways has once again become the ‘World’s Best Airline’. Acclaimed for its excellent business class product, Qatar Airways tops the categories of ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Seat’ for its innovative QSuite, ‘World’s Best Business Class Lounge’ in Doha, and ‘Best Business Class Onboard Catering’.
Coming in at number 2 again, Singapore Airlines consistently delivers a fantastic experience to its passengers. Awarded 2nd through its efforts in First Class and the quality of its staff, Singapore Airlines tops the categories of ‘World’s Best Airline Cabin Staff’, ‘World’s Best First Class’, and ‘World’s Best First Class Seat’, as well as ‘Best Economy Class Onboard Catering’.
Rounding out the top 3, ANA All Nippon Airways has once again been hailed for its services making journeys safe and efficient. With wins in the categories of ‘World’s Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness’ and ‘World’s Best Airport Services’ for its ground staff and luggage handler’s efforts, ANA All Nippon Airways has won the hearts of Skytrax voters around the world.

Our very own Virgin Atlantic has beaten Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa to the top of the Premium Economy list, offering spacious seating and onboard catering that people couldn’t resist voting for.
This year in the Skytrax Awards, Delta Air Lines has beaten out some of the biggest names in the industry to the ‘Best Airline in North America’ through their Delta One business class, fantastic business class lounge experiences, and topping the ‘Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat’ with their improved cabin.
With significant improvements since 2019, Air France has found itself at the pinnacle of airlines in Europe, also coming in at number 9 in the overall ‘World’s Most Improved Airlines’.
