After 9 years of construction, the brand new Terminal A at Abu Dhabi Airport is scheduled to open on the 9th of November 2023. Specifically designed to cater to Abu Dhabi’s national carrier, Etihad Airways, flight schedules will begin to change terminals between the 9th and 11am on the 14th of November, at which time all Etihad flights will have moved over.
Terminal A is located within the Abu Dhabi Airport complex, less than 20 minutes from the entertainment of Yas Island, and about 30 minutes from the city centre with its major attractions such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. With a 5-minute drive from Terminals 1 and 3, the Airport will also operate a shuttle bus for guests connecting between flights who may need to transfer between terminals making there no need to leave the airport. The team at the transfer desks will be available to assist with help or more information.
Integrating technology, infrastructure, and best-in-class services to streamline the travel experience, Terminal A is the perfect gateway to Abu Dhabi and the world. With dedicated check-in areas, separate entrances, and valet services for those using the city as a destination or stop-over, it entices visitors from all over the world to explore Abu Dhabi and its surroundings.
The arrivals experience at Terminal A is all about convenience, with 34 E-gates with passport and eye scans, 38 immigration counters, and 10 baggage reclaim belts. So once bags have been collected, it is as simple as following the signs to meet your pre-booked Etihad Chauffeur for selected first & business class passengers, or the complimentary pre-booked Etihad Coach service to get to Dubai or Al Ain quickly and easily. The whole process from gate to curb is billed as averaging only 19 minutes!
If catching a connecting flight in Abu Dhabi, you can look forward to a quick and smooth transfer that will have you at the gate for your next flight in 15 minutes, so you can swiftly look forward to the next part of your journey.
Those travelling between the 9th and 14th of November should ensure they use Etihad Airways’ “Flight and Terminal Information” website within 72 hours of their flight to ensure that they are aware of where their arriving and departing flights will be, and any need to change terminals for connecting flights.
For those departing from Terminal A and utilising a taxi or chauffeur service, they can drop you directly at the terminal doors making a seamless start to your flight. The dedicated business class check-in areas with self-service kiosks and customer service desks make checking in smooth and efficient, and business class passengers enjoy fast-track through immigration with a dedicated premium lane.
Once clear of immigration, business class passengers can relax before their flight in Etihad’s business class lounge, with complimentary food and drink, plenty of charging points and quiet areas, and even a spa. In some cases, you can even board your flight directly from the airport lounge.
Alternatively, there are also over 27,000m2 of retail and dining outlets for any last-minute shopping and duty-free and to make sure you’re fully charged before your flight.
