When you hear about flying Emirates Business Class, you probably picture some ultra-chic, luxurious experience that’s just a notch below royalty. And after flying from London Gatwick to Dubai on their A380 on EK10, I can wholeheartedly say it lives up to the hype. Although not the newest aircraft in their fleet (it doesn’t have the new Premium Economy cabin on this aircraft yet), my journey was nothing short of exceptional. This blog is my attempt at an honest Emirates A380 Business Class review, focusing on the premium services pre-, during, and post-flight. So lets find out what makes Emirates Business Class stand out.

Pre-Flight

Emirates Business Class Chauffeur Service & Check-In

When I booked my tickets through Just Fly Business, they made sure to let me know that Emirates have introduced a light fare with all my favourites trimmed out. With no chauffeur service, no lounge access, and no free seat selection, it saves some money which is a definite bonus, but when you account for the cost of getting to and from the airport, and the hassle in the terminal it just doesn’t make sense to me. Additionally, if you’ve ever been stuck in traffic on the way to the airport you will know how stressful the whole ordeal can be making the chauffeur one of the standout features of flying Emirates Business Class. The convenience of having a private, luxury car pick me up at home and drive me to London Gatwick Airport was a huge benefit as I didn’t have to worry about parking or public transport.

After being dropped at the door to the airport, the Emirates Business Class check-in counter was easy to find, with no long queues, an under-rated benefit of the cabin. I was promptly greeted by the friendly staff and dropped my 2 bags off without any hassle with plenty of my allowance to spare. Swiftly directed through the Fast-Track customs immigration area I arrived at the Emirates Business Class lounge, a peaceful space that felt a world apart from the usual airport chaos.

The Haven of the Emirates Business Class Lounge

The Emirates Lounge at Gatwick Airport is a true reflection of the airline’s commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience. The space was comfortable, spacious, and offered a wide selection of food and drink. I treated myself to a glass of wine and a plate of fresh salad, but I could have quite easily enjoyed a hot meal or a glass of champagne while settling in at the windows. With an amazing view of the runway, my inner plane geek was happy and looking forward to boarding.

Along with the ample amount of comfortable seating, workstations where I was able to make notes for this Emirates Business Class review in peace, and even shower facilities, the lounge made the waiting time feel like part of the experience rather than a mundane necessity.

Onboard Experience

Boarding the Emirates A380 and First Impressions of the Business Class Cabin

Boarding the Emirates A380 for my overnight flight to Dubai was seamless. As a business class flight passenger, the upper deck on the Airbus is an experience almost solely limited to this aircraft now that the Boeing 747 is slowly being removed from service. And with priority boarding, it meant I was among the first to board the aircraft with the cabin crew warmly greeting me by name.

Stepping into the Business Class cabin of the Emirates A380 felt like entering a completely different world and I was immediately impressed by the attention to detail in the design of the cabin. It was spacious and elegant, with plush leather seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring privacy and direct aisle access for every passenger while the lighting was soft and calming, with each seat offering personal storage spaces for belongings. Another big benefit of business class is there is always plenty of space in the overhead compartments due the to reduced number of passengers in the cabin.

No sooner had I found my seat and settled in, the crew member offered me a selection of welcome drinks. I opted for a glass of champagne to kick things off; in my opinion, the perfect beginning to any adventure. The seat itself was massive, plush, and looked like something straight out of a luxury car commercial, inviting me in with the more than ample legroom, Bulgari amenity kit, and privacy.

Dinner, a Show, and then off to (A Fully-Flat) Bed

With only just over a 6 hour flight time, I was eager to get off the ground and sample the menu as no Emirates A380 Business Class review is complete without it. Offering a wide variety of options including delicacies from traditional Middle Eastern dishes to Western favourites with a carefully curated list of wines to complement each course. I chose a delicious Arabic mezze platter to start, followed by a perfectly cooked fillet of beef for the main course. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the food was simply outstanding.

The personal entertainment system in Emirates Business Class is another highlight. With a huge selection of movies, TV shows, and music available, there was no shortage of options to keep me entertained. I was particularly impressed with the noise-cancelling headphones, which provided a truly immersive experience while watching movies or listening to music.

The Emirates A380 Business Class seat is, without a doubt, one of the most comfortable and spacious I’ve experienced. The seat can be easily transformed into a fully-flat bed, which was perfect for the overnight flight. I was provided with a plush mattress pad, pillow, and a warm blanket, and with the whole point of flying on an overnight flight to get some sleep, they created an ideal setup for sleep.

I woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed after my over three-hour nap, which is a rarity when not flying in business class on long-haul flights. The quiet, private cabin, combined with the plush bedding, made it much easier to sleep than I anticipated. The Emirates A380 Business Class product has really perfected the art of providing an ideal environment for rest.

Post Flight

Arrival in Dubai: The Home of Emirates

Descent into Dubai was preceded with a hearty breakfast complimented by an array of hot and cold beverages just as the sun was stretching across the desert. As with the priority boarding, disembarking is also a breeze. Because the aircraft only had 2 classes, business class passengers were first off, to the baggage carousel first, and with priority luggage, through immigration quicker than ever.

Thanks to the Emirates chauffeur service, I was once again treated to a private, luxury ride, this time from the airport to my hotel. I made my way to the chauffeur service counter where I was provided a friendly driver who helped me with my luggage and offered a comfortable, smooth ride through the city. This service made arriving in Dubai feel even more effortless and stress-free, and it was the perfect end to an already outstanding journey.

Flying Emirates Business Class from London Gatwick to Dubai was an unforgettable experience. From the luxury chauffeur service to the spacious Emirates A380 Business Class cabin, the entire journey was designed with comfort and convenience in mind. The meal service, entertainment options, and sleeping arrangements all contributed to making the flight feel more like a pleasurable experience than just a mode of transport.
