Increasing its close relationship between the UK and the USA, British Airways has announced a new direct route from London Heathrow starting in the summer of 2023.
Making the 27th US destination served directly from London by BA, Cincinnati, Ohio is a city perfectly placed for passengers visiting Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, and creates another gateway for the airline into America’s Midwest.
Operating from the 5th of June 2023, the new route will provide 5 direct flights per week during the summer and reduce to 4 per week during winter. Initially serviced by British Airways’ fleet of Boeing 787-8s with 3 cabin classes, Club World (business), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), and World Traveller (economy).
BA’s Director of Networks and Alliances, Neil Chernoff, commented:
“This is the first time we’ve flown this route, and we can’t wait to connect two cities which both have so much to offer. Not only will this open up these destinations to customers on each side of the Atlantic, but it will also improve connectivity between the Cincinnati region, Europe, and beyond, with opportunities to connect to our wider network via London.”
Affectionately nicknamed by locals as Cincy or the Queen City, the area is renowned for its world-class museums, more than 50 breweries, the USA’s largest Oktoberfest, 3 major sports teams including NFL, NBA, and football, and the Krohn Conservatory, an Art Deco greenhouse featuring 3,500 plant species from all over the world.
With a growing food and entertainment scene including its famous Cincinnati Chili, handmade ice cream, and craft beer, the city is also the perfect starting point to discover the Bourbon Trail in Northern Kentucky or an epic music-themed road trip through the bluegrass country of Kentucky, Nashville, and down into Mississippi.
With services departing from London Heathrow, BA business class passengers will make the most of priority check-in and fast-track through security, as well as the Galleries Club Lounges at Terminal 5 before even boarding the flight.
As previously mentioned, BA will begin the route with their Boeing 787-8 which operates a Club World cabin in a 2-3-2 configuration with seats facing in opposite directions in a ying-yang design. Converting into a fully flat bed with bedding and amenity kits designed by The White Company, passengers enjoy a spacious and comfortable journey, arriving refreshed and well-catered for with a choice of restaurant quality meals served alongside a range of hot and cold beverages, wines, and spirits.
