Centennial Olympic Park

With Atlanta home to the Games of the XXVI Olympiad, the site of the 1996 Olympic Games has been immortalised by the city with the Centennial Olympic Park. This large open green space contains several reminders of the international sporting event, with the Fountain of Rings surrounded by the previous host nation’s flags a highlight for the children of Atlanta to play in.

Since the Olympic Games, the park has acted as a focal point for a leisure and entertainment precinct, with sporting grounds, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, the CNN Studios, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum all within easy walking distance.

The King Center

Arguably Atlanta’s most famous resident, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was born and raised in the suburbs of this city. Along with the Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum, The King Center is a memorial to Dr. King and his wife with where he was laid to rest, a reflecting pool and eternal flame, and the Freedom Hall showing his work in exhibits. Adjacent to the King Centre is a National Historic Site of Dr. King’s place of birth where you can take a tour, or listen to his sermons in the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
