A skin of marble tiles and naturally lit galleries holds the perfect setting for the Greek antiques, gorgeous exhibits of furniture and arts from French monarchy. As breath-taking as the gardens and lawns are to look at, they are also commonly used as a fun way to release your inhibitions by rolling down the hill.

Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory sits opposite Mount Hollywood, providing an excellent view of the acclaimed Hollywood sign. There’s an array of space and science related displays; the observatory is the gateway to the sky with it’s array of telescopes and exhibits. In accordance with Griffith’s will, admission has been free since opening in 1935. On the cusp of the observatory is Griffith Park, it’s worth a wander around the landscaped paths and native shrubbery to see the stunning view of the city in the large mountainous area.

This is definitely the cheesier side of Hollywood, but an important one to tick off the list for your holiday in Los Angeles. There’s plenty of old history and glamour to discover along the Walk of Fame; not only does the most famous sidewalk in the world allow you to admire the immortalised names of celebrities and stars embossed in brass, but it also leads you to many other must-see sites like the Dolby Theatre (host of the Academy Awards), the Hollywood Roosevelt or the Chinese theatre.
